Highlight works
As a professional fine artist, specialising in figurative work, I have found the most exciting aspect is showing the surface contours of a body, whilst illustrating the complexity of bone, muscle and tendon that lies beneath the surface.
I have found the medium of photography very liberating in this respect and whilst many ‘Bodyscape’ works in photography are created in the medium of black & white, my intent, with this portfolio, is to challenge this approach.
Working with six separate models, three male, two female and one transgender over a period of several weeks. I added purposeful and selective
coloured lighting to the figures along with judicious composition studies to enhance their depth, dimension, and shape.
My intent, in this series of evocative figurative images, is to challenge the viewers preconceptions of gender and form; which is the male, female or transgender figure?
